The theme of Starthistle 2010 comes from the movie, “AVATAR.” We see a lot of similarities, so this year’s theme became AVARAT.

Just like the club's favorite recreation, free flying, much of the movie's action takes place high in the air.
In the film, the giant blue Na'vi people can fly, by riding flying pterosaurs. They click into the nervous systems of the creatures, able to cross-communicate and become one flying entity. Like the Na'vi, paraglider and hang glider pilots also can fly, by riding flying wings. We click into state-of-the-art aerodynamic systems of our wings with our harnesses; now able to cross-communicate with our wings via weight shift, cross bar, riser lines, speed bar and brakes, we likewise become one flying entity free from the bonds of earth.

The Na’vi scamper up a mile high Tree of Life,
glider pilots climb up mile high Thermals of Lift.
